I would appreciate any suggestions regarding camp sites in Galicia for this summer.

Something not too rowdy, but maybe with a small pool.

Thanks.

I can't really help.......as slept mostly free camp in that area.....,,

But the weather is VERY changeable......maybe get ya head down and head south maybe into Portugal ?

Just bumping this thread in case anyone has great site recommendations, still open. We are just into Galicia on the north coast and planning our next move...(weather really holding out nicely!)

We stayed there 2.5 weeks; some free camping, mostly campsites.
The ones we liked best were Los Manzanos near Santiago de thingy and a great site just outside Malpica called Sisargas.

We found the weather far more settled in Galicia then further East in Spain.

Try the Illa de la Arousa. Fabulous island with a very long bridge. Don't know if it's still open. Currently in Santander. Ferry back to Portsmouth on Monday boo hoo

Thanks for these suggestions! You always come up trumps! We now have Santiago then Leon (area) then Potes... then two days somewhere handy for Bilbao (suggestions for that one?)... then heading back to reality! On our trip so far we have seen one German Beach (hire) and one Austrian Cali (also hire)..and that's it!

The site at Mundaka is pretty good and the place itself is spectacular; it's pretty near to Bilbao.
Islares is also close-ish and pretty good.

Thanks for this- we'll probably opt for Mundaka since Islares closes today.. we are meeting a friend in Bilbao hence the need to get nearish...

The drive down the valley is lovely and you get to see Gurnika which got battered by the Germans in WW2 (the book about it is excellent BTW).
The town of Mundaka itself is a bit weird (quite dark and built up) but the campsite and surrounding area is stunning. If you get the chance, take the coast road East around to Bakio; an awesome drive up and back down mountains.

Great stuff, Potes tomorrow, then two nights at Mundaka, then Sat from Santander... and oh dear....

Are you going up to the cable car at Funte De, not to be missed. Good site there as well called El Dorado.

Ah... we are at Potes atm and have to leave first thing so no time for the cable car. Although this trip has been utterly fantastic there have been frustrations with lack of time- we really have to come back for more time in Galicia (both coast and inland) and the Picos which has been mind blowing today- clear blue sky, empty roads, absolutely breathtaking scenery etc etc. The Cali is such a fantastic touring vehicle and (tho I know others disagree) the dsg box has been a pleasure on both the long hauls and these mountainous roads- we have really enjoyed everything!

Definitely an area a 180 Cali shines is mountain roads; while motorhomes and other vans struggle, the Cali just pulls up effortlessly.

We did some hairy driving in the Pyrenees and were so glad we were in ours!
