Can any one advise us please? Bought our new Cali a couple of weeks ago and seem to be having problems with our fridge. First weekend out and it doesn’t appear to be getting cold?? We’ve left it on all week so lets see how it performs this weekend. Is anyone else having the same problem.

Probably need a but more information to give everyone a clearer idea of the problem.
Does it make any difference if you're running on batteries or hook up?
Have you tried various different temperatures including setting it as cold as it will go?
Is the control panel showing it as on?

Few things to check first:
  1. Are the leisure batteries fully charged? The fridge will shut off below a certain voltage to protect the batteries. Your batteries may be flat.
  2. Control panel should give a voltage/capacity readout what does it say?
  3. Does the fridge get cold on main hookup?

Yes the batteries are showing fully charged and we were on hook up all weekend. We’ve played about with the temperature setting. We can hear a buzzing as though it is on but just not getting cold.

The quiet buzzing should be the compressor which suggests it's working.

Unless it is very cold inside the van (may be worth putting a fridge thermometer inside to see how cool it is) with full batteries or hookup it should come on. If it was that cold however the buzzing wouldnt be there.

As Freeley suggested set it as cold as it will go and see what happens, otherwise it may be a visit to your dealer to get it checked out under warranty sadly.

Thanks. We’ll see how it performs this weekend.

Try setting it on 5 which is cold enough that the fridge has to work.
On the control panel on the top right hand side is the snowflake symbol illuminated?

The fridge only cools below ambient temperature. If it cold outside and you say have the fridge setting on 4 or even 5 then you will not notice much difference. The fridge is quiet, there is no fridge light, easy to think nowt is happening.

My suggestion would be to put a bowl of frozen water in the fridge compartment to cool it quickly, set it to max, leave a couple of small bottles of room temperature milk in it. in 24 hours, unless the outside temperature is in the high 60's plus, the milk will be quite cold if not frozen.

Hi everyone. Many thanks for your help and comments. In conclusion to our fridge problems, VW have put us a new fridge in! Yay!! Chilled wine this weekend.
