So I believe my 4 tank/pump arrangement is the same as a 5?

Pump failed. New Comet unit arrived. Getting the old one out was a struggle. I’m not looking fwd to fitting the new one. Simple enough in theory but getting the feed pipe onto the pump spigot will be a nightmare.

Any previous experience out there?

If it is just a push fit of plastic tube onto spigot can you warm the tubing with hot water or hair dryer?

Ha ha. It is exactly that…….assuming you can get both hands in through the hole!!!

Right well I seem to have turned the job into a bit of an epic!

The plastic pipe between the pump spigot and the tank take off seemed hard and inflexible. I didn’t get a good feeling the new pump was going to stay put if I just pushed it in.

Only option was to take the pipe out.

I removed the feed pipe to the tap and unscrewed the elbow fitting. Once it came free of the nut inside the tank I had to prise it free of the pipe inside the tank (tyre levers!)

Once I got the elbow off the pipe just dropped into the tank.

I put the pipe in a bowl of hot water and left it for 10 minutes.

I replaced the elbow with the nut on the inside (this was a nightmare to get in place. I had to use a box spanner and fiddle around till it lined up!

Next I removed the grommet for the cable and the old wiring.

With the link pipe nice and warm I pushed the pump spigot firmly in one end.
With the pump inside the tank I managed to push the link pipe firmly onto the elbow.

Next job was to feed the new cable through the hole in the tank and replace the grommet. That was a stubborn little bugger!!

Unfortunately I didn’t have any male spade terminals with a barb to replace in the original connector housing so I just chopped it off and used bullet connectors.

Not the easiest job but it’s all good now. :pinkbanana
