Hello all.
Our van is currently at VW for a service and mot. They have just got in contact with me to say that the air conditioning requires a service at a cost of £149. They say that they replace the gas and oil plus do the service (assume bacterial cleaning)
Is this expensive? Am I being too Yorkshire?

Vaguely remembering we had ours done at 1st service 2020 it was about that sort of price with vat.

Although I may be corrected, I thought with a modern A/C system the only real maintenance needed was to regularly use it. The seals can dry out if the A/C doesn't get used much, that's when they can leak the gas and you end up with an ineffective system (which in turn will cause degradation of the other seals too). I suppose they might replace any filters and clean something?

Maybe I'm a closet Yorkshireman; when I sold my Subaru the A/C was still blowing ice cold and odourless, despite being 12 years old and the climate system had never been touched. Doubtless someone will now tell me there was some death bacteria lurking in there . . .
