Hello all!

Has anyone got any experience or tips for upgrading a basic model stereo in a Cali? Ideally I don't want a big outlay but really like the idea of accessing an iPod from the multifunctional steering wheel.

We have a multifunctional steering wheel, basic head unit, but only a line in socket, not the media adaptor. Is adding one a simple job?

Oh and I would like to keep the vw integrated parking sensors working.

Thanks in advance for the collective wisdom of the forum!

We replaced our RCD310 with an aftermarket unit from Preston ICE, although there are quite a few options out there if you look around (avoid the cheap chinese ones on Ebay). It has built in Sat Nav, hands free, ipod connection and parking sensors work fine with visual display. Works great and looks OEM.
We don't have the MFSW but it is supposed to work with that too. If you do go down this route I would recommend getting a DAB unit as the California AM/FM aerial struggles with reception on non VW OEM units
