Stopped by police last night as one of our LED lights failed, had to call VW assistance who could not repair it so I was towed to dealership as Police said I was not allowed to continue our journey.:sorry

So not a quick trip to Halfords for a spare Bulb then?

Did you not have a Dashboard warning light on for a Bulb failure?

Blimey! Front or back? I thought LEDs were more robust than that!

The entire rear nearside cluster! No warning light apart from the blue flashing lights in my rear view mirror.

Friend of mine in France had a similar experience, front DRL out, the cost of a new unit including DRL (as these can't be repaired) was an eye watering €1200 + 5 hours for fitting.

Imagine having a 10yr old hyundai with a knackered LED.
It will probably be scrapped.

Ridiculous. The rozzers must have been having a bad day. 1 tail lamp out they should have given you a vehicle defect notice which gives you 14 days to fix it.

RHS light did not make a vehicle unroadworthy. Yes a VDRN or, in the days of discretion (after a (hopefully) negative breath test in the festive season) a word of warning to get it fixed.

I was travelling behind a T5 "builders" van the other day and the only brake lights he had were the ones in the top of his barn doors. Accident waiting to happen and I couldn't let them know, though probably wouldn't care anyway.
There are so many people driving with various lights out a copper could spend all day stopping people.
Must have been a slow night for them!

I queried the warranty considerations on LED light when I bought our current Highline T6. Old fashioned bulbs were of course considered as 'consumables' thus not covered by the warranty. I was assured that LED units were considered differently and would be considered as warranted items.

I'm interested to hear how the dealership considered yours @Annik if of course your camper is still under warranty.

I would argue that the led bulbs are not bulbs but electronic units so should be covered under warranty. The dealer may well try and tell you that bulbs are not covered as it is generally easier for them to get you to pay for them that them complete the paperwork. Also they make more money from get you to pay than warranty work ad the labour costs are fixed by VW and are a lot lower for warranty work.

If you had a trailer lamp board from a cycle rack or trailer, that could be used as a short term option couldn't it, assuming it was plugged into the towbar socket?
