Clare picked up a “parking charge notice” in our local Sainsbury’s car park. We managed to get it cancelled.

Our appeal simply stated, “The driver believed they had fully complied with the parking regulations”, and included a copy of a section of a credit card statement showing the amount spent in Sainsbury’s on that day.

Good. Oh these PCN companies!

So how much is the min spend to get free parking?

A while ago I was given a PCN from Parking Eye after parking in Hawkshead on a vey dark and wet November night to allow my wife to go to the lavatory. I stayed in the camper and waited; didn't see any signs.
I appealed the notice complaining that there was no information at the car park entrance and if there were any signs in the car park, they were unlit. I also sent a letter to the Lake District National Park Authority, the owners of the car park pointing out the lack of signage.
About a week later, I received a letter from the Authority telling me that they had instructed Parking Eye not to persue the charge.

Ah, Parking Eye.

From 1984: "You had to live – did live, from habit that became instinct – in the assumption that every sound you made was overheard, and, except in darkness, every moment scrutinised."

Except, in 1948 when Orwell wrote, they hadn't invented night vision cameras.
