Is there any one out there with a new T6.1 Beach Tour ,with two sliding doors that also has EHU? If so, where is the external plug located? On the RHS sliding door only Calis, it's at the left rear, but it appears rather a tight fit at that location if there's a sliding door openning on the left side too. Thanks.

That’s a good question. It does make you think that the LHS sliding door on the tour is designed for access on day to day trips rather than when camping (when you’re likely to use hook up).

Great question. Based on the photos on this linked thread (which is a Beach Tour with the option of deleting the extra sliding door and adding mini kitchen), it looks like the EHU been moved somewhere other than the rear left usual position.

In fact, looking at other videos of the Beach Tour it looks like the EHU might have been deleted and the leisure battery would be charged purely off the alternator (or solar if you add that).

This is also the case on the Marco Polo Horizon which has twin sliding doors and is Mercedes’ equivalent of the Beach Tour.

Interesting.

Wow, this could be a bit of a game changer for choosing between Tour and Camper...

If you need a three bench seat (perhaps the most popular reason for choosing a Beach over other models), then you have to take the Tour I believe. Given the lack of EHU, this seems a retrograde step from the T6 Beach

Not really. VW would have to design and tool up for a new body panel. But it is something that can be easily retrofitted.

Not on the Tour version where the side door is deleted and mini kitchen added. That would be the same side panel as Beach Camper presumably with the only difference being the bench.

But I agree for the twin sliding door option.

Either way, far from ideal if you’re after a 3 seat Beach.

Presuming you have that Option on the Tour, to delete the side door in the UK.
The Original Beach, in the UK, didn't have EHU, then it was an Option and then Standard.
Some Forum threads from way back about retrofitting it.

My Beach (2012 T5.1) didn't come with EHU and I retrofitted it. As Welshegas says there were lots of threads (and 'discussions') about the best location back in the early days of the Beach. The two most popular locations were under the bonnet next to vehicle battery and around / under rear bumper with consumer unit in space above where rear jack is stored.

FYI; I've found a spec sheet on the VW Australia website for the T6.1 California Beach Tour. It's the only model VW sell in Australai due to the requirement to have a passenger/footpath side sliding side door option. No sign of EHU in the standard or even Optional list.
Wow. They don’t get a sliding rear door at all. :D

Would be nice to see the A pillar front screen blinds in the UK Beach.

Standard 5 year warranty!

I have a Beach 6.1 Tour and much to my surprise it doesn't have an EHU...optional the dealer said....anyway have now ordered the model I want/ need... a Coast 4motion with the EHU!
