Wind deflectors? Yes or No

I want to buy some new Duflecta sleek deflectors for our present van (left the others on the old van when we sold it). I bought some at Christmas, but we managed to break one before installing them and haven't had any luck trying to stick it back together again.
However, I've tried emailing and ringing Dubflecta a few times but had no response. I'm reluctant to put through an order (through Paypal) in case they've gone out of business. They're not very good at communication at the best of times but this is worse than usual. Has anyone had recent contact?
PAYPAL are very good at giving a refund if an article isn't supplied or faulty. Far better than VISA in my experience.

I ordered pressed steel plates from them. Long delay despite chasing. They eventually arrived with scratches and finger prints in the laquer - very poor quality. Despite several emails I did not receive a reply and have raised a PayPal claim. I’d avoid them if you can source the items elsewhere as their service is very poor.

Thanks folks, some good advice there.

:( like the look, bought Heko wind deflectors, could always hear wind noise from both windows, then bought additional metal clips but still not happy. Took them off threw them in the bin. :(

I really would like to fit deflectors for the advantage of ventilation at night.
I was hoping this thread would be helpful, but it's absolutely no help at all. One minute someone says they are great, and they don't make any noise. Next minute someone says they are rubbish, l chuck them in the bin.
A whole litany of different views. It really is a Marmite subject. But then again, that is what this forum is all about.

I have the VW stick on ones, which I bought primarily to allow night time ventilation. I think they allow more air flow than the clip in ones as the gap between the deflector and glass is about 40mm, so with the windows wound down a similar distance there is ample air flow. Not conscious of any wind noise.

Heko seem to do 2 models for the T5/6, SKU:31146 which are inserted into the rubber seal and SKU:31173 which are stick on. Which is the best option?

We have the push in ones and they are fine.

I too have the stick-on type direct from VW. I preferred not to have the type that disturbed the window surrounds. I’m not sure whether users who have the flush deflectors are experiencing noise when the windows are closed because the ‘seal’ of the window is not as good. But I agree mine allow more ventilation.

Any chance you could post a pic of your VW ones, thanks.

Heko also use small metal clips in the window channel.
I have fitted Heko to my last 3 vehicles and would recommend.

I started with the VW stick on ones - dealer fixed them on first time around. They lasted about 4 months before they started coming unstuck (on a French motorway!). I tried replacing the double sided foam tape having spent hours scraping the old stuff off, cleaned everything with Isopropanol before applying the tape, but they only lasted another few months before the same happened again. I chucked them in the bin and replaced them with Climair wind deflectors which have behaved perfectly for the last 2.5 years.

As I said above somewhere, we had the Sleek Dubflectas on our previous van, & they were great for nighttime ventilation without rain coming in, also very discreet. There didn't seem to be any additional wind noise. I am very keen to buy a new set for the present van, but I can't get hold of Mr Dubflecta to place my order.

Thanks - good point.

I phoned and emailed to see if he had any advice re: fitting them to laminated windows. Never managed to get any kind of acknowledgement let alone answer to the question. Bought some Heko to replace them and they’ve been great.

Hmm, yes, beginning to think I might do the same. Is there much (any?) difference?

We have Dubflectas on our Beach, they’re great but OH had to buy more clips as the amount that came with them aren't sufficient. More clips you use, the better they stay on..

The Heko ones have a sticky tab at either end, and then two metal clips. The Dubflecta ones have four plastic clips, but they are what gave me trouble (see here).

In terms of the deflectors themselves, the Heko ones extend further down at the front (all the way, whereas the Dubflecta ones taper off). Looking at the profile, i.e. how much they stick out from the van, I don't think there's much difference. The Heko ones have a little printed logo at the top which I thought would annoy me, but it doesn't stand out and I'd forgotten about it until looking at them to write this post!

I’ve got original VW ones, they look smart and are easy to fit.

Just now installed my original VW once with push in plastic clips. An easy task to do and it fits perfectly. As the manual says I should wait 24 hour before I use the windows now. So about ten o'clock tomorrow I'll use them as usual.
