My wife is Danish and we have to go there very soon so thought a Cali was a good way to definitely get there. Plus the usual #livingthedream adventure holidays

Wow Tomato, where is she from?
Our family is from Nykobing, Sjaelland, a beautiful little seaside area.
Hvad er hendes familienavn?

I'll have another try - apologies in advance
Thanks for reposting pic. It looks fantastic. A rather classy two-tone.
As a serial Cali buyer, I'm going to be bold next time. No more plain Indium Grey for me. The trouble is the colour option is not available in the UK. So it's going to be a silver van, with a bottom half respray, not a wrap.
Thanks for the encouragement.

Why not a wrap ??

Why not a wrap ??
Well l admit that part of the reason not to go for a wrap, is that I'm old. Wrapping is some new fangled idea. I'll end up with a vehicle you can tell is wrapped. There will be odd edges showing. What about giving it a good old wash and polish?
The main reason for thinking a wrap is not a good idea, is because we mainly wild camp. No narrow, bush lined lane, is too small to access that small tucked away spot. Hence branch marks, that can be polished out with paint, but might leave mark on a wrap that can't be removed.
Paint seems the better option, but I'm prepared to be persuaded otherwise. Yes it can be removed, but how easily? At what cost? Will it leave cut Mark's?
I've had a £1350 quote for a "take to pieces paint job", from a spray shop, that l trust to do a good job. This is a lot less than a VW two-tone.
Well there you have it, persuade me.

Welcome, now that’s what I call a colour co-ordinated van.

I'm with you on this. It must be a generational thing. I'd rather have paint than a wrap. Having seen a couple of wraps that weren't that great I suppose my view has already been coloured. However, I too am open to being enlightened.

Whilst we are on the subject of wraps, I just don't understand the mexican wrap concept either. You take a piece of soggy wallpaper and fill it with food only for it to deposit the contents in your lap. It's not as if the wrap has any real taste either. Seems like a lot of effort for no real return.

So I'm not that keen on wraps of any kind.

Yes it must be a generation thing. Mexican wraps, in your lap, not for me.
While we're on the subject of the younger generation's culinary choices, what about McDonald's? Try picking up a Double Mac and eating it without it going everywhere. They even insert layers of what look like yellow industrial grease to ensure that the thing does slip and slide everywhere. Again, not for me I'm afraid.
But a silver and Indium grey two-tone, that's for me!

Very nice colour scheme. Top half silver? Our's is called Moonlight, Candy white over Starlight blue.

We sometimes weaken and take our grandchildren to Mc Ds. I prefer the drive through as going inside is guaranteed to put my blood pressure through the roof. There's something about those places that winds me up. Also and without going into too much detail, I have discovered that their food and especially their coffee disagrees with me every time. So it's usually a quick blast through the drive through and then let the little toads do their worst to the inside of our van.

Wraps have come on a long way in the past few years, they can be beautifully done by the good companies. I am steering away from my Panzer winter camouflage idea now thinking blue bottom. Or maybe just good old fashioned camouflage for those stealthy wild camping spots. Or perhaps a few well chosen blue stripes with a touch of reflective yellow in a few places - for safety of course

Just north of Copenhagen but we’re normally around Gilleleje
Small world Tomato....nip along the North Coast and take the Hundested-Rorvig Ferry across Isefjord and I’ll treat you to beer, fish and chips in the harbour!
Our family names are Hansen and Johansen, (not that they narrow it down very much!)

Haha it’s not hard to be persuaded into anything with these, it seems! Also check out the dark blue (lower) and silver (upper) two tone combo - this looks really nice

Hi everyone, we recently bought a T6.1 Ocean (our first camper), and we’re looking forward to many adventures in it – “we” being me, my wife and our daughter (nearly 3). Before buying this our only other recent camper experience was in a converted Peugeot mobile home we used for going to Glastonbury a few years ago (pre-parenthood), so this is opening up a whole new world of holidays for us! We figured that the current covid / travel situation means we’ll be taking flights a lot less for the foreseeable future, and that the Cali would be a great way to have fun holidays, as well as visiting family back in the UK.

I have to compliment the California Club and its contributors for having a fantastic forum here! It really helped us when trying to work out some aspects of what to look for, and what would suit us best, as well as highlighting the multitude of ways we can customise and supplement our beloved new ride! We bought it from a local VW/Audi dealer, who was really helpful throughout the process. Reading some of the posts on here I get the impression that people can have mixed experiences when searching for a Cali and buying one, but I have to say it seems we were really lucky. At the showroom there was also a technician with a T5 Cali, who was able to quickly talk us through many aspects of the vehicle we were looking at. Safe to say, the Cali falls into the “don’t test drive it unless you intend to buy it” category, as I was sold on it within minutes!

We have taken a couple of trips since picking up the vehicle a few weeks ago – just 1-2 nights at a time, within an hour or two’s drive of home, but then we are pretty lucky being in Switzerland, close to a lot of lakes and other areas of natural beauty. I have a bad feeling us getting the Cali may have cursed the Swiss summer somewhat, as we have had an awful lot of rain since we bought it. Sorry everyone…..but it has at least allowed us to get experienced with setting up in wet weather, and heading downstairs to sleep when the rain got too noisy on the roof a couple of weeks back.

Thanks again to everyone for such a great forum, and we’re looking forward to learning more, and sharing info about our adventures and experiences with the new camper!

Yes l agree, the blue and silver Cali looks stunning. It's durability that is my concern. "All that glitters is not gold."

LOVE Donegal, first fish I ever caught, first time I was bitten by a dog, first time I fell off a horse...all in Donegal. Great tweed too!
Nacys in Ardara is great open on 20th I hope great tweed indeed had to second look that lol
