Hi

While trying to close one of the sliding windows I realised the rubber seal had come away from the pane and become wedged between the sliding window and main pane. I managed to pry it back into place so that I could shut the window but would imagine that it will not seal properly unless correctly seated.

Does anyone know how to remove the sliding window?

It looks like you can't buy a new seal and have to purchase whole sliding section so I'm hoping if I can get panel out I can reseat the seal.

Thanks

Pete

We took our Cali in as we had water between the two front seats, they replaced the sliding window above the kitchen unit as the seal had gone. They had to get a specialist in to do this as its a unit on its own and vw don't do it, so wouldn't think it's something that you can do yourself

I have had to replace the sliding window on our van as he locked us out one night this year.
Clearly had had enough of us!!!

All the specialists and body shops I approached said the whole side window came as a piece and would have to be replaced at £500 plus approx.

After some investigation VW Heritage in Westbury found just the sliding unit could be ordered and fitted in 20 minutes. Cost £150, which I think was a bargain.

Contact Darren at the VW Heritage, Westbury body shop. I am sure he will be willing to help.

I have a leak behind the kitchen cupboard. The sliding window was replaced but did not cure the leak unfortunately. I have now been told that the complete side window has to be replaced, to do that they have to remove the entire kitchen unit and will take a fortnight to do it. Not happy doesn't quite describe how I'm feeling just now! However, replacing the sliding window took very little time, it might be worth contacting the parts department of a dealer to see if a seal is something they supply before replacing the whole window.

Thanks all. Looking at other threads on leaking sliding windows I may see if the window leaks following my attempt at trying to get the seal back in place and if it doesn't I'll be tempted to leave it shut and not use it! It seems a lot of expense and hassle otherwise!

Seals perish over time and I'm surprised this can't be replaced without having to buy a new sliding window.

Hi, are you still hanging in with your Cali? I have the exact issue as you. My problem is that I am trying to fix after the window has been sealed and glued with silicone for a number of years. Did you you manage to fix or did you just lock the window permanently?
