Leak behind windout awning casing - normal?

We have T6.1 Coast with wind out awning.

We attach our awning to top of awning casing with figure of 8 clips. First heavy rain yesterday , and realise there is a leak - water is coming down behind the awning case, and Is that normal ? With previous motorhome we didn’t get this . I can’t manage to throw straps over the top on my own, to attach awning that way, which would cover awning case.

There should be a rubber seal/fillet between awning case and vehicle.
