Extra fan noise on reversing t5.1

This isn‘t a problem, just a curiosity. Every now and then an ‘extra’ interior fan kicks in when I’m driving and always comes on when in reverse! Anyone know the purpose? Avoiding Getting hot and clammy during a tight reverse park maybe?! I love little idiosyncrasies like this but would love to know the real reason.

When reversing the Heating/Aircon changes to re-circulation mode to avoid drawing exhaust gases into the vehicle. Normal.

It does it when you squirt the window washers too, so you can't smell the washer fluid ... although I always can still smell it.so it must be too slow
