Diesel heater behaviour 2022 Ocean 6.1

Having tamed (I thought) the diesel room heater, I noticed something strange this evening. I switched it on with the remote and found very warm air blasting from the front screen demister vents, and little blown from the vent at the base of the B pillar.
Am I misunderstanding something here?

From about 3 minutes, you need to change it out of ventilate mode...

The key fob deploys "heat immediately", not " heat continuously", There is a setting in the menu that will be set to "ventilate". You need to switch that to "aux Heater".

It is needlessly complicated, I agree!
