I have a new California and asked for the doors to auto lock when driving, but I have been told that this is no longer an option?
Is this correct?

Its a cable that plugs into the vehicle diagnostics port and the software can change settings for van

Thanks again, however my local VW dealer is saying this setting is no longer an option to be set.

Im sure its just something you can turn on or off, could be wrong though otherwise just push the padlock switch to lock all the doors :)

I'm sure door/unlocking settings are in the manual.

Our doors all locked from 10mph BEFORE service and mot in December of last year. Driving out of vw van no longer locked so I turned round to enquire immediately (not in those words!) They said it was latest flash, I asked for it to returned as I like the side door locking my 2 and 3 year old in just peace of mind I guess. Vw chap said vw can't put older software on and auto lock was taken off due to safety concerns (figure that?) but if you know someone with a real vag-com you can have welcome home lights and loads of other toys just by turning the code on - said the friendly vw techy.

I have a September 2014 T5.1 which has the option of central locking at above 15kph. Here is the VCDS screen of the option both set and un-set.

Image 1 is the VCDS Controller details screen.
Image 2 is the full hardware and software versions of my BCM module
Image 3 is the coding of the BCM with the auto-locking NOT SET
Image 4 is the coding of the BCM with the auto-locking SET

If your BCM is on the same hardware and software versions as mine then the auto-locking can be set,

Unfortunately my Cali uses the new software and my local VW agent has found errors trying to use the old VCDS settings on new Cali's.

Quite honestly a VW Dealership or Specialist that does not keep their Diagnostic Software upto date would not be a business I would be using for my pride and joy.

Agree, yet we backup and archive our IT MIS Systems should we need to restore, as any computer user can access. Surely vw could offer this service rather than a 'thats it' approach?

I think accredited Dealerships do have automatic updates. VW Assistance certainly have regular updates for their Diagnostic Software.

A dealer using VCDS?? I would have thought they would be using the genuine VW kit.

As a side issue to this thread I have hade a removable towing bracket fitted to my 2015 SE and there is no indication of the trailer blinkers working. Dealer says this too has been removed from the options?

Re; F5 JNR wanting sliding door to lock when moving for child safety... as an option you can turn the child lock on before closing the sliding door and driving that will prevent anyone opening the sliding door from inside. Bit of a hassle to remember to turn it off again when camping so you can get out of the back. But could be an option if reprogramming turns out to be not possible.

As far as I am aware the trailer flasher indication on the dash is a legal requirement.

As far as I am aware, NO indication on the Dash means Trailer lights are working Normally. If any light fails on Trailer board when connected then you get an indication on the Dashboard, just as you get when vehicle lights fail. This is with the VW installed and Programmed Trailer electrics.
I don't know what happens with 3rd Party trailer electrics that have not been programmed.

What is a tell tale?
The function of the tell tale device enables a driver to see whether the trailer’s indicators are functioning correctly. There may be a dash mounted warning light or an audible bleeper operating in unison with the indicators and, in the event of an indicator failure, this will stop. Some types of tell tales only alert the driver in the event of an indicator failure, but some tell tales signal an indicator failure by causing the car’s indicators to flash at a rapid rate.

Definitely miss this feature from my last car, does that mean my boot is effectively open for anyone at traffic lights etc to open and help themselves?
