Could anyone offer any advice. T5 California SE 2011
My drivers side window controls and auto fold mirrors have suddenly stopped working. The rest of the controls on that unit (mirror adjustment, central locking) still work fine, and the passenger side window control also works fine.
Before I take it in to be fixed, I wonder if anyone has any idea if it could be something simple, like a fuse.
Any help appreciated.
Many thanks
Dan
ps ironic that it decided to do this during it's MOT :(

You had auto fold mirrors?
That is correct, I 'had' auto fold mirrors. I'm hoping with the help of someone that knows more than me about these things (not difficult), that once again I will 'have' auto fold mirrors ;)

It could be a broken wire in the rubber boot that carries the wiring loom to door, or a fuse . Central fuse box in dashboard, bottom section has lots of relays + 3 fuses. Central fuse B, 30amp.image.jpg
But it could be different on your vehicle VW seem to vary it just for fun.

Sorry, do you mean 'Auto Fold' as in they fold when you turn ignition on / off, when you press the remote? Or do you mean they auto fold when you move the switch on the drivers door?

Just that the T5 have never had Auto Folding mirrors?

Ahh, I see what you mean. Sorry, my mis-use of the word 'auto'. No, you have to turn the knob.
I guess I meant auto as in I don't have to grab the mirrors and fold them in myself.

Thanks for that WelshGas. Really hoping it's a fuse. Will investigate when I get a chance.

Cool. I know there was a relay mod that allowed this to happen, this could have been your issue if the previous owner had fitted one.

I think the relay mod also took the standard switch 'fold' position out of operation.

Slightly OT but it begs the question what setting do folk leave their switch in when not folded?
I don't like having my heating elements on every time I fire up the ignition (even tho' the dealer said this was fine...) when the mirrors are unfolded. As my Skoda Combi dips its mirror going into reverse gear when set in the 'L' position, I just leave it in the 'L' position on the van too for consistency (even though this useful function is not fitted).
