Clarkson anyone?

Well if I had a throw off at work and smacked someone I would expect to get the sack and if I want a hot meal I would expect to pay for it

Probably the most overblown ego seen on television since Alan Sugar.

I wonder if Tony Hall called sugar in .... "Alan... now what do you say to Mr Clarkson?" ......

Sure he is a right idiot to work with. Miss Top Gear though.

My thinking is we will get a revised top gear on BBC, might even get some motor journalism! Plus the 3 amigos will appear on C4/Sky/Netflix/Amazon, so motor fans might get more car based telly.

Can't condone what he did and sure he's probably a bit on an a***, but I found him amusing and for me Top Gear was just about the only must watch programme of the week.
I expect he will be back in the fullness of time

It's not about Clarkson, it's about the licence payer. All he's ever done is rail against idiotic political correctness. Like it or not he's attained a position where by sacking him achieves nothing but hurt the viewers.
It doesn't mean what he did was correct. It was handled badly.
To chastise him is utter hypocrisy. He says what everyone thinks. (Ooh England just scored!)

In my humble op, he should have been offered a new contract with clauses. If he steps over whatever line the BBC decide then he pays a fine of £1m to (insert charity). Everyones happy and the people who pay get to see the program they enjoy.

There can't be many companies out there that would allow the chairman to carry out a personal vendetta against an employee and in the process cost the company approx £30m.

Top Gear had some really good bits, some OK bits but it was interspersed with lots of boring stuff and rehashed ideas. I use to record it so I could fast forward the rubbish parts, like SIARPC. I've still got some I haven't watched yet. Sorry to see it go, I would like to see a proper car reviews, but like pop videos, these are all on Youtube now.

And I bet the BBC wished they took a different view of another employee Mr Jimmy S who was a big money spinner for the cooperation.

When Angus deighton was sacked from have I got news for being naughy can't remember what he did but people said the programme would fail, it didn't so top gear could have a variety of chairs and 2 regular presenters

It was a result of Saville that the BBC strengthen its bullying policy.
This was a simple case of bullying of a junior member of staff, which contravened the new policy. The BBC had no choice.

Clarkson has been in trouble with the BBC twice before, so it was only a matter of time.

Alan

Another has-been in a few years who's ego proved to be greater than the tolerance levels of his bosses
