How does your fridge close?

Does everyone have to give their fridge a hard push to get it to 'lock' closed?

If I close mine, or let it drop from a few inches, I always have to tap it quite hard to get it to click shut.

Showed Alex + SMG and he said they are all like that. It's a pain to be honest because half the time the lid looks closed but it's not clicked shut.

Or maybe the hinge doesn't have to click for the fridge to be working as normal?

Yup. Same here. The catch needs a tap to click in.

We have found it's best to just push the opening button a little when you close it, then push the lid down to ensure the seal is compressed. Same with the sink lid, that also stops them vibrating, when properly engaged the button pops out a bit.

Same with mine. The fridge has a seal which is why it needs a bit of pressure to compress and secure the catch. My cooker lid closes easily - just lower it gently and the catch clicks ok.

I have the same expirience....
What i also find irritating about the fride is while sitting in the back , relaxing , say with feet up on the seat reading ...i frequently seem to open the lid thoutching the unlockbutton and it clicks loose...
Anyone ever seen a better system witch we can replace the pushbutton?

My old fridge lid used to close easily but after it was replaced in the summer I have to really slam it!

Same here. I don't "drop" the lid, but once shut give it a firm press until the button clicks.

My fridge lid needs a firm press downwards to close it properly. No rattles. Not a good idea to 'slam' it down. Even with the hob/sink lid firmly pressed down have a rattle whilst travelling. Stops rattling when the wife leans on it. Haven't sussed this one out yet. Has anyone got any ideas please.

Check the rubber stoppers, they slip or go missing, this causes the rattle.

They have spares in the shop here.

I used spread my tea-towel across the top of the gas rings and under the glass cover, it seemed to dampen rattles.

Not a good idea to 'slam' the lid, increases the chances of it breaking. Just need to give it a firm push when down.
