The"coast" should be clear now the kids are back at school :thumb

The coast is clear,

I am on a campsite, 100 plus pitches, full last week, very low occupancy this week, had about 70 choices of where to park.

That would confuse us, we can never decide which one to pick and would end up driving around in circles :D

Ha Ha..I know the feeling...was planning to stay in the car park at the newly opened Alfa Romeo Museum tonight BUT not likely as it's on the fringe of the long derelict Alfa factory and looks suspect. Found a car park in a quite residential area to sleep the night.

Be careful your Cali doesn't catch the dreaded Alfa rust bug and electrical problems!

(Despite their problems I have a soft spot for Alfas though. I got to know the service manager very well at the local dealership and spent a lot of time driving a variety of loan cars during my spell of Alfa ownership :))

Very envious....I'm collapsed on the sofa after an impossible day at the office, watching Penelope Keith's Hidden Villages of Devon and Cornwall....dreaming of retirement...one day!
Hoping to get away for a night this weekend. Still have the memory of my sadness of my last night in my beautiful van on my holidays in June. It's been a hard summer with little chance to escape.
Will look out for you on your travels....are you aiming to 'do' Scottish coastline too? Have fun! I enjoy reading of your adventures!

It's really strange.....

The NEW Ferrari Museum at Modena has had zillions spent on it....

The reopened Alfa Museum at Arese is from the outside at least a shambles surrounded by broken windowed buildings....odd...but hey I am in Italy....

Hi Dottie,

I've done the Scottish coastline, the Far west, north and East was finished this Winter, camping through 8 severe weather warnings, wind, rain, wind, snow, wind, wind, snow, wind..... It cemented my love affair with Albert, a couple of alarming mishaps proved what a tough, safe vehicle the Cali is and living through some dreadful conditions underlined what a snug shelter it is.

From Lands end I've now gone west, north, and now Southwards through East Anglia.... and nearly gone west a few times in another sense of the word :shocked

We love Suffolk, RSPB Minsmere is a favourite place and Aldeburgh, sounds like you hsve an amazing time in your van:) , were only starting our adventures but planning to go to Scotland , Speyside in particular !!! But not in midge season !!!

You both will have an amazing time in your van.

The first thing that gets wrecked are the plans ... they change quicker than a politician's opinions as you find all sorts of uses for the Cali ...

Then there are the preconceptions ... there are no midges in Scotland. Well, not in winter in a 91mph Gale ... I never met any in Ullapool as roofs were becoming airborne and the Cali rocked and rolled me to sleep :Grin

Seriously the scope of the ambition and the breadth of the application is only limited by our own time in using the vehicle. It is the most versatile escape module on the planet, you will have all sorts of fun, games and adventures ..

Glad you're up to mischief again!

It's good to know your back on the road Jen,and your problems behind you.....
happy Caling :) :thumb :bananadance

Albert is being quite mercurial.

For a day he refused to charge on the 240V hook-up. Then, at 2030 Monday night he changed his mind and stayed charging through to midday yesterday.

Again I plugged him in last night and he's stayed charging al night, and, something I've not seen for months, a trickle charge now going in. Perhaps the obvious solution, obvious to all but the " technical whizz-kids", was to simply change the batteries.

Have they changed the batteries then?

Good for you Jen !
Enjoy the good times , clear your mind...
We are in the last three days of a trip in France , home by sathurdayevening back to work monday....
We cleared our head already!

It would appear so but I still live with a slight pessimistic gloom. It's done this to me before, been good one day then have a dose of the sulks the following.

Dear Jen
Delighted that Albert is now "fixed" at least enough for you to have confidence to travel again........whatever happens you'll always have the support of forum members.....
2014 DSG 180 4Motion with some bits and pieces some on and some fallen off, and some don't stay up-more to follow after awaiting response fromVW head office....... Another saga

Oh isa,

after problems with your previous van you would think that this one would be alright ...

I await with interest your account of the repair from VWCS
