Sorry about the wording, I was just wondering where and how you would measure if your Cali is horizontal.
I use my iPhone now on the glass of the stove.

Any other ideas?

Thanks

Hi Chris,

That is a good place, although not easy for you to see. Between the square lumps on the floor below is also horizontal.

I don't think any surface around the dash is level, which would be a better place as it is in eye line while driving up the ramps.

Someone else may have a better place.

Alan

I thought the central pot on the dash was level. Thats where we keep our t shaped spirit level.

Get it as level as you can using the level on the hob technique, then move the level around the dash area to find the same level

Personally I just go for slightly level, and if it is wonky the sleep with my head at the high end.

If I have to have a slope I try and park across it. One of us may roll from one side to the other but that's part of the fun ;)

I use the compass app on my iPhone and put the phone on the closed stove/washbasin lid.

Why do you need to get it level with a spirit level??

Why all the trouble with gadgets....just open the sliding door and see in witch direction it rols....simple as that!
Or just take a botlle of water ( or any botlle where you can see the drinks thru the botlle) and place it on the coocker/ fridge-lid

To be honest, if I struggle to tell whether it's level or not then it's clearly level enough. :)

in a similar vein: it occurs to me that i don't think i have ever tried to get it level other than eyeing up the ground before i drive onto it.
and (gj) if you down the glass of vino sufficiently soon after arriving it doesn't seems to matter anyway ;)

Thanks.

Funny discussion.
After our first big trip with our Cali (through France and over to Corsica) to get a good nights sleep we had to use leveling blocks most nights. Smart phone app is quick and easy. I also used the sliding door technique mentioned earlier. As we always have the Cali lengthways along any slope this also was OK, especially as the blocks did not always provide enough adjustment.

Agree.:thumb

If it's not level, drink the wine and refill. Repeat until it becomes level :D

When fine adjustment is needed then lay "by now empty" wine bottle on cali floor and see which way it rolls.

Position ones body so that when falling over ones head lies in direction of roll.

This ensures, if nothing else, a positive supply of blood to the head.

And, as a second check and to ensure traceability, you can continue until you are horizontal yourself, then check to see if you are parallel to the floor of your Cali ... hic ....

... what a pity we won't be at COTF this weekend to try this out :D

Albert and I are sweltering in the 38C heat of Southern France ...

1,000 miles in three days and I'm left once again thinking just what a brilliant vehicle the Cali is.

We are going to the meet in France on Monday 13th July, anyone else going?
